About CrossPoint Baptist Church
Welcome to CrossPoint Baptist Church
We are blessed to be a part of the Grandville and greater Grand Rapids area. We believe that the Lord has called us to uplift the fallen, comfort those who are troubled, and encourage a Christlike spirit in our community.
Our current location is a stepping stone to what God has ahead. The Lord has blessed our congregation with a temporary place to worship, and we are prayerfully seeking a permanent home. While we are thankful for a place to gather, we know the church is not the building, but the people brought together by the Holy Spirit.
Every guest who visits one of our services will find an open door and a welcoming hand. Our desire is to live out our Christian walk with humility, grace, and compassion toward all we meet. While we do not claim to be perfect, we rejoice that we are sinners saved by grace through Jesus Christ.
We would love for you to join us at one of our services on Sunday morning or Wednesday night.
What We Believe
The Scriptures
We believe the Holy Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, was written by men divinely inspired by God. We believe the Bible reveals God, the fall of man, the way of salvation, and God’s planned purpose in the ages. We believe it to be infallible and entirely accurate from Genesis 1:1 to Revelation 22:21, and the sole authority for the faith and practice of this church.
2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:21; Hebrews 4:12
God
We believe there is one God, a living and intelligent Spirit, the Maker and Supreme Ruler of heaven and earth, eternally expressing Himself through three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Genesis 1:26; Matthew 3:16–17; 1 John 5:7
Jesus Christ
We believe in Jesus Christ, the virgin-born Son of God, conceived by the Holy Ghost, truly God and truly man, perfectly sinless in His life, making atonement on Calvary’s cross for all who believe on Him as Savior. We believe He was raised bodily from the dead, ascended visibly to the throne of the Father, and now lives to make intercession for us as our High Priest and the only mediator between God and man. According to His promise, He will return bodily and visibly for His church.
Matthew 1:20–23; John 1:1–14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–8; Romans 10:9–10; Hebrews 4:14; 7:25; 1 Timothy 2:5
Salvation
We believe the salvation of the sinner is wholly of grace and made possible alone through the vicarious death of Jesus Christ upon the cross of Calvary. We believe there is salvation in none other, and that all that is necessary for salvation is acceptance by faith of His finished work.
Ephesians 2:8–9; Romans 4:4–5; Isaiah 53:3–4, 10–11; Luke 22:19–20; Acts 4:12; John 1:12; 3:16
Creation
We believe the material universe, including man, came into being by the direct creation of God in six literal 24-hour days, and not by any evolutionary process.
Genesis 1; 2 Peter 3:5–7
Man and Sin
We believe man was created sinless but voluntarily sinned, and because of this fall all men are now sinners by birth, destined for hell, and must be born again to be fit for fellowship with God.
Genesis 1:31; 3:17; Romans 5:12–21; 6:23; John 3:3–6
Hell
We believe that an eternal, literal, and burning hell is the final abode of lost mankind, together with Satan and his angels, to remain there throughout eternity without hope of relief.
Revelation 20:10–15
Heaven
We believe in heaven as described in the Scriptures, and that its inhabitants will include God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, the angels, and all the redeemed.
Revelation 21:1–22:6
The Local Church
We believe the local church is a congregation of immersed believers associated by covenant of faith and fellowship in the Gospel. We believe the local church has the right of self-government and is answerable only to God, her Administrator, and the Lord Jesus Christ, her Head. In matters of membership, policy, discipline, and benevolence, the will of the local church is sovereign under Christ.
Matthew 28:19; Acts 10:47–48; Romans 12; Matthew 18:18–20; Ephesians 5:23–24
Ordinances
We believe there are two church ordinances: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. Baptism is the immersion of the believer in water. We believe participation in the Lord’s Supper is symbolic of the Lord’s vicarious death and is to be shared with true believers regardless of church affiliation.
Romans 6:3–6; Acts 8:36–39; Colossians 2:12; 1 Corinthians 11:23–34; Luke 22:19–20
Spiritual Gifts
We believe the Bible teaches that there are both permanent and temporal gifts. The temporal or sign gifts, including tongues, interpretation of tongues, and gifts of healing, were given by God to lend credibility to the establishment of the early church during the transitional period of dispensations. These sign gifts are completed and are not applicable to the work of the Holy Spirit today.
1 Corinthians 12:8–10, 28–30; 13:8–10
The Great Commission
We believe God has given the church a great commission to proclaim the Gospel to all nations so that there might be a great multitude from every nation, tribe, ethnic group, and language group who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. As ambassadors of Christ, we must use all available means to go to the nations and not wait for them to come to us.
Matthew 28:19–20; Mark 16:15; Luke 24:46–48; John 20:21; Acts 1:8; 2 Corinthians 5:20
Giving
We believe every Christian, as a steward of that portion of God’s wealth entrusted to him, is obligated to financially support his local church. We believe God has established the tithe as a basis for giving, but that every Christian should also give offerings sacrificially and cheerfully to support the church, help those in need, and spread the Gospel. We believe a Christian relinquishes all rights to direct the use of his tithe or offering once the gift has been made, and that designated funds are considered an advisory designation by the giver.
Genesis 14:20; Proverbs 3:9–10; Acts 4:34–37; 1 Corinthians 16:2; 2 Corinthians 9:6–7; Galatians 6:6; Ephesians 4:28; 1 Timothy 5:17–18; 1 John 3:17
The Return of Christ
We believe the end of this age is approaching and in the imminent, personal, visible, pre-millennial return of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for His church.
1 Peter 4:7; Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–18
